This is the new hats I made for my little ones to celebrate the holiday. But this time, I'm using 2 strands of yarn in different color to create this unique pattern. Great for family matching pieces. Here I made a handy chart to show you how many stitches and how many rows you need if you want to crochet the hat for youself or someone else.

Let me show you how I use the chart to making the hat. I'll make a toddler size hat as an example. Material: Lion Brand Pound of Love Yarn - Cherry Lion Brand Pound of Lover Yarn - White 6mm Crochet Hook (J)or size needed to obtain gauge Pom-Pom maker (I'm using the green one 2 1/2 inch in diameter for kid's and blue one 3 3/8 inch in diameter for teen's and adult's) Tapestry needle Markers (optional) Gauge: 4in*4in = 13DC * 8 Rows Abbreviations PATTERN With 6.0mm crochet hook (J) Magic ring, ch2(count as DC) , 9DC in magic ring, sl st in first DC(10DC) Rnd 2: ch2(count as DC), DC in the same, 2DC in each around, join to first DC (20DC) Rnd 3: ch2(count as DC), DC in the same, DC, *2DC in 1 st, DC, rep from * around, join to first DC (30DC) Rnd 4: ch2(count as DC), DC in the same, DC in next 2 sts, *2DC in one, DC in next 2 sts, rep from * around, join to first DC (40DC) Rnd 5: ch2(count as DC), DC in the same, DC in next 3 sts, *2DC in one, DC in next 3 sts, rep from * around, join to first DC (50DC) Rnd 6-12: DC in each around, join to first DC(50DC)
----this is what I showed in the chart for the sts in final rnd. For now is 12 rnds. The +2 means if you don't want the earflaps, you can stop here and make 1 rnd of sc and reverse sc the next rnd.
Earflaps (after 1st earflap finished, skip 22 sts from seam, with RS facing, start the 2nd earflap)
----15 sts between the earflaps (from back) + 9 sts for the 2nd earflap
Row 1: ch2 (count as DC), DC in next 8(9DC) Row 2: ch2 (count as DC), dec DC, DC in next 4, dec DC(7DC) Row 3: ch2 (count as DC), dec DC, DC in next 2, dec DC(5DC) Row 4: ch2 (count as DC), dec DC, dec DC, (3DC) In Red only, with RS facing, sc evenly all around the hat, and reverse sc the next rnd Using the green Pom-Pom maker to make a pom-pom and attach on the top of the hat.
